Ya I think so. But elves already had their glory days in the first age and kinda the second age. But who I think should have gotten into the war was the dwarves you never see them. But it is kinda dumb how the elves just left to Mithlond (The Grey Havens) and never returned. Mirkwood, the only thing they did was send Legolas. Lothlorien helped the fellowship on there quest and they came to man's add at the siege of Helms Deep. But ya your right men did do most of the work in the War of the Ring. So ya i agree with you.

Across the sea was where their homes were. You cannot blame them for leaving, although it may have been better if they had stayed until Sauron was defeated. Them leaving though could be considered as appreciation to the men. Maybe they thought that it was the men's time to shine. The elves were done with Middle Earth.

no it is not because that is what I would say to the elves in order to get them to help in the war and the dwarves can be excused because they were pretty much toast

The elves left because they needed to. The strength of men was failing and they needed that victory in order to survive. Iluvatar said it right when he said it was time for the elves to step aside and let the men take over.
This is now what I believe. Yes they have a choice to stay and fight for their friends. Or they can return to their true home and be with their kin and their masters. But I believe it is all up to the personal opinion of the person. If he, or she, stays or leaves they are fine by me!
