They were once a warlike race. The Oldbucks settled down in an area in the northwest and named the place Buckland. They renamed their family Brandybuck and remained there and became peaceful.

They would make excellent scouts because they are small, nimble, and they can pretty much walk through the forest with out making much noise. And as for them becoming warriors? Well they might be good for a ground soldier. But there are advantages and disadvantages to them being in any military.
you know of the inns that you can capture in certin levels you just have to capture one then you can make hobbits try playing at minis tirith then you can make huge armys of them since it has out posts

It is cool, but not entirely accurate given the time that the game takes place in. And Olorin, Saruman was talking about another site (also created by me) in which he double posted and was banned for 5 days. He was saying stupid because it was a bad thing that happened to him. He is saying that the hobbits would be pretty good against "his" uruk-hai ("his" is said because he is Saruman). But he thinks that "his" Uruk-Hai would win.

well hobbits make good enough wariors that they won the battle of by water (wich they should have included in the movie) also that would be weird if there was a battalion of calvary hobbits on ponies

The reason they didn't put that battle in the movie is because it kind of drew on the story unnecessarily. The ultimate quest was to destroy the ring. The extra struggle of the battle of Bywater kind of ruins the whole happiness of destroying the ring. Which worked out fine for the book but I just don't think they would have been capable of pulling off in the movie.
