hobbits must be some of the bravest creatures in arda first of all merry and pippin were the second people to charge at the battle of the black gate then merry was the one to stab the witch king and pippin stabed the orc that was about to stab gandalf and then frodo and sam were the ones to carry the ring all the way to mt.doom

Ya they are. Just saying though is that even if that Orc were to stab Gandalf he would not have died. When he was Gandalf the White he could no longer be hurt by any mortal weapon.
