You would not get a job as a miner if you shaved off your beard. They would think your are sily and would not hier you. Hear this Sir Cody, they pride them selves in their bears almost above their most thing they pride, fighting.

It isn't because of that. It's because of this necklace that the elves wanted the dwarves to forge. The dwarves forged it but wanted it for themselves. They slaughtered the king that asked for it then the elves slaughtered the dwarves and they have hated each other ever since.

He is the Elven ship Gard at the Grey Havens in the return of the king book. When the Hobbits and everyone get there and sail away. His name is Cirdan, he is one of my favorite Elves!

Yes he has a beard we all know that now. And Illuvatar, Sir Cody, and I have now all read the Silmarillion so we are no longer in the dark anymore.
