Well he is pretty cool. And he sure prodicted a lot of important things in Arda. For instence, the Dagor Dagorath, or Battle of Battles. When Morgoth comes back.

Any Valar would obviously do good in battle. And I've always thought of Mandos as totally awesome dude in all departments, but logically, he wouldn't be abnormally good for a Valar. That is not his job.
