tolkien created a series of myths, legends and creatures that cant be explained by his literature creating a world almost as real as our own, of these creature vampires are one others include were-worms, fastitalicon andthe nameless creature gandalf mentions in THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

they should have just named the vampires vampire bats because that is esentuly what they are also after looking up nameles things those sound pretty creepy but the theory that they are just a metaphor of the natural proceses that formed the tunnles then that wouldn't so creepy and the name for that is geology

yes but there already are bats that attack in essentially the same way and besides vampires from what ive found are bigger and i like your theory about the nameless things but gandalf said that he had seen these things in the bowels of the earth

I think I like the nameless things that asmodeus mentioned better and when I read that part in the book I thought nothing of them but when asmodeus mentioned them I looked them up
