He, sure seems evil to me in the Silmarillion! Just like Galadriel in the Fellowship of the Ring. He was gredy in his ambitions. I am glad Gothmog killed him! To be perfectly blunt and honest.
Galadriel was not greedy! She was awesome. Most other people (even elves) would not have been able to resist the temptation. She did and she was not greedy.

Well I think the story went. That anouther balrog had to old Feanor befor Gothmog could strike Feanor down. So I think Feanor probably held his own. But not for long.
The Silmarils were created from the light of the two trees of Valinor, so once the trees were destroyed his opportunity was lost. This is a big part of the reason the Silmarils were so coveted not just in Aman, but in Middle-Earth as well.
