Let us discuse the Battle of the Peak. The great and awesome fight between Gandalf the Grey and Durin's Bane, the Balrog. From the Bridge of Khazad-dum, through the dungens of Moria, up the endless staircass, and the final battle on Zirakzigil (Durin's Tower). We know this battle as the Battle of the Peak!

It's an awesome battle. I never knew what the tower was actually called. Thank you for enlightening me.

Your welcome Illuvatar. And I love this battle because it is between 2 Maiar of equal strength. Well Gandalf is a little stronger however. I really really like how in the movie it shows Gandalf turning his sword, Glamdring into a lightning sword and killing the Balrog. I like to think of him doing that in the book aswel. Because Gandalf has been known to summon lightning. Like in the Hobbit, he kills some Orcs with a flash of lightning. And plus in the book it said Gandalf smote his enemy I think. So the definition of smite is to strike somthing with such wrath that it is suverly injured, or killed. A finishing blow, final strike. So I like to think he smites Durin's Bane with lightning Glamdring. How do you guys feal about what I just wrote?

well theres nothing stoping us from thinking that gandalf used the lightning charged glamdring to kill the balrog and if they both have equal power then it would depend on who makes the first mistake if the balrog would have been able to get the sword away from gandalf then he would be screwed

What you do is the Balrog walks toward you really slowly and you hit him with your lightning sword. Then you wait till it recharges while running away from him. Rinse and repeat. About 7 times until he's dead.

Yeah. It was very vague in the movie. After the Khazad Dum thing of course.
